Safia Farkash is the widow of former Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi. She was born in the early 1950s in the city of Bayda, in what is now known as Libya. Farkash was a nurse before she married Gaddafi in 1970, and they had seven children together.
Farkash was known for her extravagant lifestyle and close relationship with her husband, who ruled Libya for over four decades. She was a prominent figure in Libyan society and often accompanied Gaddafi on official visits and diplomatic trips.
After Gaddafi's downfall and death in 2011 during the Libyan Civil War, Farkash fled the country with some of her family members. She was later reported to be living in exile in Algeria, along with her daughter Aisha and some of her grandchildren.
Farkash has largely stayed out of the public eye since the fall of the Gaddafi regime and has not made any significant political statements or appearances.
